Common orthopedic deviations of lower extremities are morton’s toe, halbux valgus, genu, club foot Osgood Schlatter.

i) Morton’s toe – If the great toe leans towards seecond toe calluses appear under the ball of the foot. This is Morton’s toe. The condition is painful. But when there are no calluses, the person has no difficulty.

ii) Hallux Valgus – when great toe turns towards other toes, there is an enlargement of joint at the base of the great toe. This condition is known as hallux valgus. To alleviate the painful condition is to choose the right shoes and hose and to exercise to strengthen the intrisic muscle.

iii) Club foot or talipes – The deformity may involve variety of types : (i) walking on toes with heels elevated, on heel with toes elevated, on inside with feet turned outward, on outside with feet inverted or adducted.

iv) Osgood Schlatter’s disease – It is a painful condition of the knee caused by a pulling of the quadriceps tendon at its attachment on the tubercle off tibia. It is commonly known as housemaid’s knee. Constant pulling and stretching of the tendon results in an enlargement of the tubercle.

Prevention to this condition may be helped by teaching children to jump and land properly with knees flexed.
