What are rocks? How are they associated with minerals?

(i) Rocks are combinations of homogeneous substances called Minerals.

(ii) Some rocks like limestone consist of single minerals only, but majority of the rocks consist of several minerals in varying proportions.

(iii) Although over 2000 minerals have been identified, only a few are abundantly found in most of the rocks.
