According to the Dayyamdinne plates, Vinayaditya succeeded Vikramaditya sometime in 681. He is stated to have subjugated Cholas, Pallavas, Pandyas and Keralas, but the reference is perhaps to the closing years of his father’s reign.

Another statement that the kings of Persia and Ceylon paid him tributes was probably more rhetorical than historical.

How­ever, his grants indicate that the kingdom was prosperous during his reign, that he took active interest in the administration, and that he toured from place to place for inspection.
