Revolutionary is a person whose very inside revolts against certain systems, certain rules or certain norms, whether they are of a social nature or a political nature.

Thus for a revolutionary, the irritants may be social, political or religious. However, if I were to be a revolutionary, I would attack the social degradation of Indians, and the Indian society.

My first attack would be on the loss of Indianness in India. The absolute and complete westernisation of our society sets me thinking as to what has happened to our so called very old and rich culture.

We are all the time looking to the west for solace and cues for our progress. As I see, the Indian society already has several flaws of its own and now, with the admixture of western ethos, I find we are simply caught in a labyrinth of social degradation. If I was a revolutionary I would have first explained to our social bigwigs how we have only doubled up our woes, by aping the west in all its social norms.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

I would resort to a nonviolent method of explaining to the people the tremendous disadvantages of this unholy combination of East and West in our society.

I would highlight the already prevailing problems of India’s society like the pest of dowry, sati, child marriage, which we have not been able to solve all these centuries. Instead of solving these problems, I would tell people how we have added to them the problems like those of single unit families, uncared-for children, drunkenness of school and college going students and many others like these. So,

I would enlighten them about how we have added to our troubles by just unwisely copying the west. Old parents who have never been a problem in our society have now become an eyesore, and a topic of discussions on platforms and other venues. I’d say all this is the result of the Westernisation of our society. Problems that never existed are now looming large on the Indian horizon.

My method of dealing with this would not be violent as a revolutionary normally acquires. My method of working would be very different from a normal revolutionary.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

I would work upon my people by means of daily series of speeches and lectures, and seminars. These would be so organised that the people would understand how we ourselves have compounded our problems and made them almost insoluble.

My main target in the offensive I would take would be the working woman. This is because; I earnestly feel that, it is the working of women outside the homes that has created several social problems.

The working of woman has definitely brought them in the limelight, given them much freedom and brought some status to them. Woman has now become an equal partner in the earnings of a family and the growth of the nation at large. However, if I was a revolutionary, I would seriously revolt against this single achievement of women which has led to a multitude of social problems. For, today for a working mother a child is just a responsibility instead of being a pleasure and elders a positive pain. With this attitude prevailing in the Indian society today, the sufferers are the children and the elders.

This in turn has given rise to creches and old age homes a never thought of concept in the Indian scenario. Thus, by becoming westernised and allowing women to go out of the home to work, we have had to sacrifice a great concept of a family, a home and elders. In my revolt against this aspect I would advise all women to get educated but use it for the purpose of improving the homes and families. I firmly believe that happy homes are essential ingredients for a happy and healthy society.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

I would suggest that, only when circumstances allow, women should go out of their homes to work. If I was a revolutionary, I would thus strongly oppose the working of women, this is because I feel that it destroys the very fabric of the home which is the nucleus of a society. It is because of women going out of home that, evils like drug abuse and drunkenness has grown in the young, as; they have on love and care at their homes. This would be my priority sphere of functioning if I was to be a revolutionary.

Only after getting some amount of success in this goal, I would touch upon lesser evils for; I feel that, this is the very foundation of all the other ills existing in our society. Once the foundation is corrected there should be no reason for the building to remain defective.
