Plants are all around us. Plants and animals are found in surroundings that are best suited to them. The place where an animal or plant is found in nature is called its natural habitat.

All the plants can be classified as either growing on land or in water. The plants that grow on land are called terrestrial plants. They get their name from the word ‘terra’ that means land. The plants that grow in water are called aquatic plants and derive their name from the word ‘aqua’ which means water.
