A large number of works in Kannada were produced during this period. Bima Kavi translated Basava Purana into Kannada. Harihara II had earned the title of Karnataka Vidyavilasa (promoter of Karnataka learning). The reign of Devaraya II was particularly favourable for the promotion of Kannada literature.

Mahalingadeva was the author of Ekottara Satsthala and Satshalaviveka. Bharata was written by Kumara Vyasa and Chamarasa. The latter is also credited with the authorship of Prabhulingabiles. Bommarasa wrote Sundara Purana while Tontade Siddhesvara compiled Satsithalajnamasaramrta.

Timmana Kavi wrote the closing chapters of Bharata. Harishchandra was jointly written by Oduva Giriya and Bombeya Lakka. A Kannada version of Ramayana was composed by Kumara Valmiki.

A work on medicine Vaidyamrta was completed by Sridharadeva. Virupaksa Pandita wrote Channa Basava Purana. A highly valuable work on grammar entitled Karnatakasabdanusasana was written by Bhattakalam Kedeva.
