Education in India passes through four “Ashramas” into which human life is divided. “Brahamcharya Ashram” which is the first stage is considered as the life of education and preparation.

The second stage is the life of the householder or “grahastya.” At this stage, an individual has to perform his social responsibilities. “Vanaprastha” is the third stage of life. It is a life of retirement and meditation. An individual has to withdraw himself from worldly life. “Sanyasa” is the last stage of life, when an individual cuts off all social and family ties and leads a life or renunciation to attain his salvation.
