Atharva Veda proclaims ‘ayam atma brahma’ this holy axiom of Atharva Veda means that “this soul is God”. It implies that the individual self, in its untarnished inner most purity and originality is the unaffected non-participant witness to the activities of the body mind- complex.

The lamp illumines the area around it. Its light is used for various purposes someone uses the light to tamper with the accounts to pilfer away the money, while the other writes the holy name of the Lord in the same light.

While yet another one uses the light for stealing something; but the lamp remains unaffected and unperturbed by all this and just remains a mute witness to these various activities.

Similarly, the atma (spirit), too shines within the cave of the heart. One should engage oneself in pious activities with the inspiration of the divine illumination.
