A science teacher is supposed to discharge various duties and responsibilities belonging to his profession.

These can be summarized as below:

1. He should work for the preparation and collection of audio- visual aid materials and improvised apparatus.

2. He should make use of various audio-visuals aids in audio-visual room in the school.

3. He should keep proper record of the progress of his students and provide information to them as well as to school authorities and parents regularly.

4. A science teacher should assign appropriate and relevant home-work and assignments to the students and evaluate them on a regular basis.

5. The preparation and production of quality text books in science, selection and recommendation aspect of a science teacher. He should provide valuable suggestions in improving the quality of the existing science text-books.

6. He should help in the process of evaluation of student’s progress and achievements particularly in terms of the realization of aims and objectives of science education.

7. He should participate in organization of various co-curricular activities particularly related to scientific activities like science fair, science exhibition, scientific excursion, nature study, scientific hobbies etc.

8. He should be involved in the organization of science laboratory, science library and science museum.

9. The science teacher should arrange and perform demonstration relevant to science teaching in his respective classes.

10. The teacher should be fully acquainted with the school time-table, the school motto, the work and social environment of the school.
