Important instruction while working in the dispensing laboratory are given below:

(a) Laboratory should be neat and clean.

(b) All chemicals and other articles should be in proper place.

(c) Electric points, washing and weighing area and working table should be arranged properly to reduce the risk of mistakes, errors and contamination.

(d) Protect the clothes and reduce contamination of dispensed product using neat and clean white overcoat (apron), gloves, napkin etc.

(e) Before dispensing, read the prescription carefully. In case of any doubt in understanding clarify the confusion with the prescriber.

(f) For formula and quantity consult Pharmacopoeia or other reference book (do not apply any trial and error method or approximate quantity).

(g) Following things are also checked – dose, number of doses prescribed, incompatibility.

(k) Label should have all information regarding product, instruction for use and storage.
