The success of DIETs is linked up with the following factors

(i) The quality of its staff and the principal.

(ii) Its autonomy from SCERTs and the State Government for taking initiative in its research and training programme. The State government must ensure full autonomy to DIET’s so that these are able to play their expected role in the qualitative improvement of elementary education.

(iii) The State Governments must provide the necessary well qualified staff and full facilities for the functioning of DIETs.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

(iv) Recruitment rules for various posts in DIETs should be issued by the State Government.

(v) Emergent steps should be taken to complete the buildings and equipment of DIETs. DIETs will have to develop competence in the following areas:

(a) Universalization of Elementary Education.

(b) Early Childhood Care and Education.
