School calendar is a little different like a date calendar. In the date calendar all the dates are given and holidays are marked in a different colour. In a school calendar there need not to be all dates. In addition to the dales a programme is charted against dates like

15 Jan to 22 Jan.: Sports festival to be celebrated

Jan 25: Prize distribution ceremony

Feb. 20: Farewell ceremony.

In a school calendar, curricular and co-curricular activities of the year are mentioned which help teachers as well as students to preplan the activities in advance, for making a school calender; there should be a meeting of the principal, teachers and parent-teacher association members, wherein stock should be taken of the previous year’s activities.

Feedback should be taken regarding the problems and disturbances that took place in the last academic session. After the meeting there should be small group meeting wherein point discussed in the meeting should be consolidated the following steps should be kept in mind while preparing a school calendar:

(i) Number of working days in a year to be calculated.

(ii) Number of holidays and Sundays is excluded from a year.

(iv) Circumstances probably going to disturb the school scheduled.

(v) After excluding the above days the working days in every month are calculated.

(vii) Dates of special lectures, workshops, seminars, fun fairs, sports festivals, cultural activities, parent-teacher association meeting, vacating classes, picnic, tours, camps, staff meetings, science fair, exhibition, projects to be taken up during the year are also mentioned in the school calendar.

(ix) Have to be interposed throughout the year in such a way that teaching-learning does not become monotonous and it remains enjoyable.
