After a course of investigation, the Secondary Education Commission (1952-53) has pointed out the following defects:

(i) It is bookish and theoretical is narrowly conceived.

(ii) It is over-crowded, without providing rich and significant contents.

(iii) It makes inadequate provision for practical and other kinds of activities which should reasonably find room it, if it is to educate the whole of the personality.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

(iv) It is dominated too much by examinations.

(v) It does not cater to the various needs and capacities of the adolescents.

(vi) Lack of provision for technical and vocational studies.
