Drugs should be stored in a manner as instructions given by the manufacturer on the label.

(a) Storage of Schedule X drugs

Substances specified in Schedule X should be stored under lock and key in cupboard or drawer reserved solely for the storage of these substances or in a part of the premises separate from the remainder of the premises and to which only responsible persons have access.

(b) Storage of veterinary drugs

Veterinary drugs should be stored:

(i) In a cupboard or drawer reserved for storage of veterinary drugs; or

(ii) in a portion of the premises separated from the remainder of the premises to which customers are not permitted to have access.

Maintenance of record Wholesale and Retail drug stores

ADVERTISEMENTS:

Proper record should be maintained of sale and purchase of wholesale and retail drug store.

Record of purchase of Drugs

The records should be maintained under the following headings:

(i) Date of purchase with bill number

(ii) Name and quantity of the drug its batch number

(iii) Name of the manufacturer of the drug

(iv) Name and address of the licence drug / good purchased

(v) Licence number of seller with validity

Records of Sale of Drugs

Sale of drug specified in Schedule X

Schedule X means list of drugs whose import, manufacturing and sale, labeling and packaging are governed by special provisions. For sale and purchase a bound serially numbered register should be maintained and separate page for each drug. In the register particulars are maintained.

1. Date of purchase

3. Quantity of the drug supplied

4. Name and address of the supplier

5. Licence number of the supplier

6. Manufacture’s name and batch number

7. Name and address of the purchaser

8. Quantity received

9. Detail of prescription in which the drug used

10. Bill number and date of receipt of purchase

11. Signature with date of the person under whose supervision the drugs have been completed.

Sale of drug other than those specified in Schedule X

The following particulars are required to be entered in a prescribed register maintained for the purchase or credit memo.

1. Serial number of entry

2. Date of supply

3. Name and address of the prescriber

4. Name and address of the patient; if the drug is supplied for veterinary purpose, name and address of the owner should be maintained.

5. Name of drug with quantity should be mentioned in the register

6. Name of manufacturer and its batch number, expiry date are required if Schedule H and C drugs.

7. Signature of the registered pharmacist under “whose supervisions the drugs supplied.
