Human resources need to be developed for bringing about an economic, social and Cultural Revolution in India. These resources also include improving the lot of women. Hence, it is necessary that men folk brings basic changes in their attitudes, pay proper regards to women, so that their life and the social status will improved. The efforts being made in this regard are as follows:

(i) Under the family welfare programmes, the burden of producing and bringing up many children is being lightened from over women. The slogans like Healthy Mother, ‘Happy home’ and ‘small family a happy family’ are becoming popular.

(ii ) The tendency to ignoring the female children is losing weight these days. Nowadays they are considered equal to the male children.

(iii) Various schools are being set up for girls and adult education programmes are on for the women in rural as well as urban areas.

(iv) The marriageable age for girls has been increased from 14 years to 18 years.

(v) Giving and taking dowry in marriages have been legally banned.

(vi) The evils like eve-teasing, rapes etc. are being strictly handled to improve the lot of women and provide them ample protection.

(vii) Equal rights have been granted to them.

(viii) For the economic uplift of the people, the women are given various employment opportunities. They are being appointed at administrative as well as executive posts in the country.

(ix) Abortion or MTP (Medical Termination of Pregnancy) has been legalised.
