Tropical Desert

(i) They are located between 10° to 30° north and south of the equator in the trade wind belt on the western margins of the continents.

(ii) Daily range of temperature is high.

(iii) Precipitation is scanty and is in the form of rain

(v) Camel is the ship of the desert and is an important animal.

Cold Desert (Tundra)

(i) They are located beyond 66.5° pole ward in the Frigid Zone.

(iii) Precipitation is scanty and is in the form of snow.

(iv) Mosses and lichen is the main veg­etation (tundra bush and tundra grass).

(v) Reindeer is the important animals.
