Evaporation is the process in which there is a change of state from liquid or solid to gaseous, i.e., water gets converted into water vapor by radiant energy of the sun. Water is added to the atmosphere. Evaporation takes place from all surfaces, all the time at all places. However, evaporation is more when the air is hot, dry and windy. It is more in the low latitudes than in the high latitudes. When evaporation takes place energy is consumed. Condensation it is the process in which there is a change of state from gaseous to liquid or solid droplets in the atmosphere. Condensation takes place on hygroscopic nuclei-pollen grains, salt, carbon particles in smoke, etc. It takes place when the temperature of air is lowered (due to cooling of air) beyond the level of saturation. In the process energy is released. Condensation may take place in the form of clouds, fog, mist or haze.
