Write a short note on Capitulum

(i) It is type of racemose inflorescence.

(ii) In this type the inflorescence, axis is flattened to form more or less convex disc, called receptacle.

(iii) A large number of sessile flowers called florets are borne on the recetptacle in centripetal manner.

(iv) The whole inflorescence is surrounded by one or more whorl of bracts froming involucres.

(i) The common examples are: The members of Asteraceae such as sunflower.
