What is the difference between Phyllode and Phylloclade?

Phyllode:

1. It is the midfication of petiole.

2. It is flat, green and a leaf-like structure never succulent.

3. It bears leaflets when young and performs the functions of a leaf throughout.

4. It does not bear axilary bud and flowers.

Example-Acacia.

Phylloclade:

1. It is a modification of aerial stem.

2. Stem is modified into a flattened or cylindrical, green and succulent structure.

3. It has distinct nodes and internodes, leaves are reduced to piines and stem itself performs the function of leaf.

4. It bears axilary buds and flowers.

Ex:- Opuntia.
