One of the many followers of Kabir, he was born towards the end of the sixteenth century in the District of Allahabad. He was kind and compassionate, and, though a religious man, he lived the life of a householder. The monasteries of his sect are found all over North India and even beyond, from Bihar to Kabul.

He too preached against the worship of images and other external forms of religion, and his followers rely entirely on the grace of God for their salvation. He was against mortification of the flesh, and taught that the true path of spirituality lay in the simple devotion of the heart.
