Causes:

(i) Use of incorrect size of fuse wire

(ii) Overloading of socket

(iii) Combustion material stored near the fuse board

(v) Use of twin flexible wire.

(vi) Use of casing-capping or batten wiring in hazardous situations such as in oil go down, timber store.

(ii) Do not throw water on the conductor

(iii) Throw dry sand/dirt on fire

(iv) Use carbon tetrachloride or liquid carbon dioxide type fire extinguisher.

In order to prevent electrical fires caused by short circuits MCB based on current limiting principle should be used. MCB do not allow the fault current to pass through the system for more than 3.5 million seconds.
