Parasitism is an association of two organisms of different species in which one is benefited and other is harmed. The benefited organism is called parasite and other is the host. The parasitism is seen in inverebrates.

Following adaptation is seen:

1. Loss of organs. The locomotory, digestive and sense organs are usually lost or reduced.

2. Usually the body of endoparasite becomes flat, leaf-like.

3. The adhesive organs are developed like suckers, hooks etc. (Helmenth worms).

4. Epidermis is lost and the body is covered by a very thick cuticle. 5- Pharynx becomes suctorial.

6. Secretion of anti-enzymes and mucous.

7. Reproductive system extraordinary developed.

8. Life-cycle becomes complex. (Fasciola, Taenia etc.)

9. In ectoparasites the mouth parts are modified for required purposes.
