(i) Steam should be used at the lowest pressure compatible with process requirements.

(ii) All piping and valves conveying steam and condensate should be properly lagged and water proofed.

(iii) Inspection of the main steam valves and steam traps should be carried out regularly and leaks should be repaired immediately.

(iv) Avoid back pressure on steam traps to the bearest minimum possible.

(vi) Ensure removal of air from steam heated process vessels.

(vii) Steam for process should be dry and saturated.
