What is the Importance of Personnel Management?

The importance of personnel management has been increasing day-to-day because it (Personnel management) is concerned with the procurement, development, compensation, integration and maintenance of the personnel of the organization towards the accomplishment of its major goals.

In fact, it has become a major part of every office manager's job. An office manager is always dealing with people. He can take decisions and implement them only with the help of the people working with him.

It is, therefore, rightly said that the success or failure of an organization depends not on materials, machines and equipment but on the 'will' and ability of the personnel to put in their best efforts for an efficient performance of their job. The main objective of personnel management is the accomplishment of the goals of the enterprise.

According to the Indian Institute of Personnel Management, "Personnel management aims to achieve both efficiency and justice, neither of which can be pursued successfully without the other.

It seeks to bring together and develop into an effective organization, the men and women who make up an enterprise, enabling each to make his own best contribution to its success both as an individual and as a member of a working group. It seeks to provide fair terms and conditions of employment and satisfying work for those employed."
