These projects involve the construction of dams, reservoirs and canals and serve a number of purposes simultaneously. Their main objective is the overall development and thus they are known as multi-purpose river valley projects. The main purpose of these projects are to provide facilities of irrigation, flood control and production of hydroelectricity.
