Mass communication is characterized by communication between a single or a panel of communicators and large sized, heterogeneous and anonymous audience except in rare cases where audience comes in contact with communicator such as author, film maker, and development practitioner and so on. It is most indirect and impersonal of all types of communication. It requires some kind of mechanical device to transmit duplications of the messages, such as television, radio, films, recordings or magazines and newspapers.
