1. Independence Day
Independence Day is an important day for India. It is celebrated on 15th August every year. On this day in 1947, India became independent from the British rule. The Prime Minister hoists the National Flag at the Red Fort in Delhi. It is celebrated with great pomp and show. After hoisting the flag, the Prime Minister delivers i speech in which he discusses the achievements made by our country in the past years and tells us about the various programmes for future. Independence Day is a national holiday in India.
2. The Republic Day
The Republic Day is celebrated on 26th January every year in India. It is one of the most important national festivals of India. The President of India hoists the flag in New Delhi. It was on this day that the constitution of India was framed. Children from different schools perform various dance programmes and show their talents in front of the President of India. The President of India gives awards to the children for their brave acts. It is one of the most important days in India.
3. Teacher's Day
Teachers' day in India is celebrated on September 5th every year. It is the birthday of the second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a literary scholar and a great teacher. It was in his honour, that this day was declared as Teachers' Day. It is a day to have fun with our teachers. In most schools students relax with their teachers and cultural programmes are organised for the teachers in the school. Students give cards flowers and gifts to their teachers play an important role in students' life and the lessons taught by our teachers remain with the students throughout their lives. Teachers, who spend their lives teaching kids, do more than just to teach. They help the students shape the future of their community's cities and countries.
4. Rainy Day
I am Sunidhi Mishra. I study in Class II Norte Dame Academy, Delhi. One day, got up early in the morning, I saw the sky was clear and there were no clouds, started getting ready for the school. As went out it started raining. I quickly went and stood under a tree. The people on the road were running here and 'there to take shelter. It was raining heavily and the roads soon turned into a stream of water. The drains started overflowing and the traffic slowed down. The people came out of, their houses and started enjoying the rain. After half an hour the rain stopped and a beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky.
5. Road Accidents
Road accidents are common in big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. There is heavy traffic on roads in these cities. Most accidents are caused due to carelessness of drivers as they drive in a ' rash manner. Few days ago, there was a major accident at the bus terminal at Kashmere gate. A bus dashed against an electric pole. Many people got injured and were taken to nearby hospitals. This accident happened due to the carelessness of the driver. The driver was arrested on the spot.
6. Hill Station
Last year, I went along with my parents, to Mussoorie. We went first to Dehradun by train from Delhi. Then, we boarded a bus and went to Mussoorie. It is 38 kms from Dehradun. It has beautiful green hills. We can see the Himalayan snow ranges from there. The excellent climate makes it an attractive holiday resort. The Kempty falls which are about 11 kms from the town attract hundreds of people everyday. We stayed there for three days in a hotel and really enjoyed being there.
7. Railway Station
A few days ago, I went with my father to the railway station to receive my uncle. He was coming from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The railway station was over crowded with people. Some of them were sitting on the benches while some on their luggage. While some of them were sitting on the floor. There were many stalls selling tea, cold drinks and eatables on the platform. There were long queues at the booking windows. As the train arrived the passengers rushed towards the train. The entrance of the compartment was jam packed. People were pushing each other while getting down from the train. Soon the train left and there was less movement and less noise on the platform. We received our uncle and went back to our home.
8. Delhi Metro Rail
I am Ankita Paul. I live in Vivek Vihar, Delhi. My cousins had come from Mumbai to spend their summer vacation with me and my family. They had heard a lot about Delhi Metro. So, the next day my father took all of us for a ride on metro train. My father bought the tickets from Shahdara to Kashmere Gate at the ticket counter at Shahdara. We went up by escalator on the platform. The train soon arrived. As we stood near the gate, the gates opened up automatically and we entered the metro train. The entire bogies are interconnected and centrally air conditioned. We really enjoyed the journey.
9. Visit to a Fair
I am Sneha Jain. I study in standard IV, Cambridge School, and Delhi. I live with my grandparents in Lajpat Nagar. Last year, I and my grandparents decided to go to Surajkund Mela. It is a famous fair. Many people had gathered to see the fair. At the fair there were art works of different artisans. On one side of the fair there were many swings for children. There were many food stalls. We had lunch there. We bought many things from the fair. There were many stalls showing the puppet show. It was great watching the show. In the evening we returned from the fair. I will never forget my visit to the village fair. It was a wonderful experience.
10. Visit to a Circus
Last evening, I went to see the Jumbo Circus with my friends. The show started at six 'o'clock in the evening. First of all, jugglers came on the stage and performed their tricks. Then came some dwarfs who made everybody laugh with their funny tricks. After this, there was an elephant show. All elephants moved in a circle and showed different tricks. Then there was a horse show. The horses jumped through big hooplas on the stage. After this, there was a ten minutes break where all of us had some coffee and popcorns. After the break, the show began and the acrobats performed swinging in the air all over the stage. The show ended by nine 'o'clock. All of us returned to our home. It was fun watching the circus.
