What are the Characteristics of a Fundamentalist?



Fundamentalism is the strict following of the basic teaching of any religion. Some of the characteristics of a fundamentalist are:

(i) Fundamentalists project their religion and community as distinct and separate from other religions and communities. They give preference to their interests over common national interests.

(ii) Fundamentalists deal with other citizens not individually but communally. In this way they keep their separate identity on the basis of religion.

(iii} They preach and practice old religious customs, traditions and social evils.
